Art With A Heart

Staff

The staff at Art With a Heart are driven by a desire to serve those less fortunate. We are dedicated to those we serve, and believe that together we can make a difference in our community and thus in the world.

Andrew Lee - Executive Director
Fearing for his sanity after six years of government work, Andrew came to the US in 1999 from Bristol, England.  He was lured by the prospect of exploring the continent and being a kept man.  Instead he took classes at IUPUI and has since been surprised at how useful an MBA can be in the running of a non-profit entity.  Andrew became actively involved in the non-profit community working  with/for several local organizations (Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association, International Center of Indianapolis, Indianapolis Cultural Development Commission, Indianapolis Concours, Business & Professional Exchange, Irvington Development Organization and the Indiana Humanities Council) on issues ranging from Strategic Planning to Technology implementation, Event Management, and Board Development.   Andrew was schooled in networking at the Business and Professional Exchange and still manages to meet new people at the rate of about one a day.  Andrew believes in the difference that one person can make and is working hard to be that person (when he’s not walking dogs or cooking dinner

Kristen Busenbark - Teacher / Technology Manager
Kristen is an Art With a Heart teacher and the manager of technology. She attended Purdue University where she received a Bachelor of Art degree, double majoring in Art History and Fine Art with a concentration in painting and illustration. Her favorite medium to work with is wax to create encaustic paintings which was a central part of her senior exhibition at Purdue. Working with children has always been a passion of hers and for three years she devoted her summers working at a residence summer camp. In this position she taught the fine arts portion of the children’s summer experience. The camp experience and her time with College Mentors for Kids have prepared her for her teaching duty with our students at Art with a Heart.

Kaitlin Mariutto - Lead Teacher
Kaitlin received her Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from Indiana University. After graduation she went west and taught elementary art in southern Nevada for 6 years. Missing foliage and humidity, she moved back to her hometown of Indianapolis in August of 2007 and began working within the nonprofit sector. She brings the combined experience of art teaching, program management and student mentoring to Art With a Heart. Kaitlin believes art can be related to all aspects of learning and is an excellent tool for understanding other cultures and customs. She encourages students to recognize beauty in their world and incorporate the lessons learned though art into their everyday lives. Her mediums of choice are ceramics, sculpture and collage. She is also a friend to the animals and loves live music.
